The Associate Fellows of the Institute of Clinical Bioethics (ICB) are high school students who play an important role in supporting and advancing the mission of the ICB. Through their involvement in Health Promoters, Therapeutic Horticulture, Frames to Go, and other service initiatives, Associate Fellows have the opportunity to serve their communities while developing meaningful relationships and growing as leaders. Their enthusiasm, compassion, and dedication make a lasting impact on the individuals and communities the ICB serves. As they begin their college journeys, many of our Associate Fellows trainsition into Undergraduate Fellows, continuing their involvement with the ICB while carrying the values of service, leadership, and community with them. Here are just a few of our Associate Fellows who have continued their journey with the ICB.
Chiara Mazza (Saint Joseph’s University ’30, Physician Assistant Studies)
My name is Chiarra Mazza, and I am a Fellow of the Institute of Clinical Bioethics and a freshman at SJU studying Physician Assistant Studies. I first became involved with the ICB as an Associate Fellow during my junior year of high school, and I am so excited to continue this incredible experience as an undergraduate. I currently serve as a Co-Coordinator for the African Health Promoter and Therapeutic Horticulture, which are two programs that have given me the opportunity to grow as a leader and become more involved in the ICB community. To me, being a Fellow means being part of a community that promotes growth, connection, service, and leadership.
Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant working in pediatric medicine. My experiences through the ICB have definitely strengthened my passion for working with and serving others, and I hope to carry those values with me in my future career. I am so grateful to continue growing within the ICB as an undergraduate and look forward to more relationships and unique experiences.
Nicholas Morici (Gwynedd Mercy University ’30, Biology)
My name is Nicholas Morici, and I have been an Associate Fellow in the ICB since I was a junior in high school. I am currently a freshman at Gwynedd Mercy University and will be playing baseball. I have volunteered at the Asian, Hispanic, African American, and Mobile Health promoters during my time in the ICB. Additionally, I am on the Therapeutic Horticulture Team at the Assisi House, as well as a member of the Frames to Go program. To be an Associate Fellow means a great deal to me. I’m very grateful to share my positivity and passion for our community by doing these different programs. Nothing beats the look on the faces of the Franciscan Sisters when our Horticulture Team enters the room. It is a blessing to know that I have an impact on other people’s lives. At college, I am majoring in Biology and I hope to attend Medical School when I graduate and eventually become a Sports Medicine Doctor. Ultimately, giving back to my community the same way the ICB is currently doing, is the ultimate goal.
